I would suggest a non profit that offers school loan payoffs/repayment. I work for a credit union and they pay my Tina Turner 70s Retro Legend Music T-Shirt in other words I will buy this student loan payment. It really helps me out. It’s not what you do but who you work for. Usually cities will have a “best workplace” award each year, check those out. Don’t give up! How did you under perform in project management? Happy to try and help you. I was project, program, sr program and now product manager. As others have said, your job is not supposed to be some passion. Chasing what you love often ends at best with you, resenting your former love, and at worst a situation like poor OP. Most people on earth get NONE OF THESE in any job they will ever perform. I wouldn’t say hating your job is any good, but finding something you can at least tolerate is the Tina Turner 70s Retro Legend Music T-Shirt in other words I will buy this goal. My job isn’t my passion, but it doesn’t burn me out and I can tolerate it. Plus, it pays. That’s really the ideal more than anything. Being more “attuned” to something can be good. Might you be more content doing some type of physical work? It seems like you’ve tried a lot of different white collar and technical work, so maybe that’s the problem. My brother had a similar experience and only found contentment in landscaping–his depression pretty much vanished when he started his business with a friend. The way he describes it is, “I know exactly what needs to be done and how long I have to do it. Clock in, clock out. Collect money.” Plus he gets exercise and fresh air all day, every day. Blue collar and other physical work is in very high demand right now, and many of those jobs pay at least as well as back office monkey work. In fact, if you want to learn a skilled trade, you could find a job with a pension and great benefits.
