TLDR – paid for 6hrs and got 3.5 at best and a half finished tattoo which I’m now expected to pay more for to have it completed. Eh it’s a slow time for a lot of artists right now. Like mine got me in on a walk-in for one and then 2 weeks later for the Tike Myson Crew Makafaka shirt and by the same token and next tattoo. He’s reputable and has won awards – many people are just not booking rn Yes and not to mention cancellations. I went in to give a deposit to my artist once and she was like “Hey, my person in 30 minutes cancelled, your tattoo should take the same amount of time so do you wanna just do it now?” and I was like hell yeah I have nothing else to do I’m getting my sleeve started (finally) and been waiting 2.5 years between travel since she’s based in a different state

She’s moving to mine now and since its a whole new book of business I got in like 3 weeks from now so hell yeah im stoked Get your money back. I’ve been burned twice by similar BS with tattoo artists. Never pay until they’re ready to actually start doing the Tike Myson Crew Makafaka shirt and by the same token and work. “Hello. I do not consent to your retention of my deposit. I expect you will honor our arrangement or return my property immediately. Failure to do so will likely result in acceleration of this dispute. I sincerely hope you do not force things to that point but be advised that I am ready, willing, and able to pursue this to the fulelst extent available to me at law and in equity. Please be guided accordingly. ” Not to be a shit, but most people, tattoo artists included, get uncomfortable with formal written demands. People don’t email like this unless they intend to go to the mat. If this doesn’t get your 50 back, just blast her on socials for being a scammer and let it go. You’re lucky it’s only 50.
