My actual productivity has went way up since we swapped to remote, and I am drinking less and stealing less too. Opposite for me. When I go into the Tiger Woods 1996 2022 Shirt and I will buy this office I only work the regular hours but when from home I often work for 12hrs straight many days in a row. I also get more done because I’m not walking around the campus going to meetings. I much prefer working from home. 1pm and I’m tired then I’ll take a nap. Wake up an hour or so later and get back to it. The only people who are going to dispute this are insecure middle managers who have nothing to do anymore and can’t stand the fact that they’re actually being shown as useless. As one of these, I revel in my new-found realisation that I only do about six hours of productive work a week. Now that I’m working from home too I have so much more time to myself now, it’s great! (while it lasts) The only reasons for “work from office” to be needed is to make middle management (read: privileged idiots who got the job by being well connected) seem relevant. Unless you’re a teacher. My students suffered psychologically and academically, and I was ineffective at my job. I hated it and my students hated it. No actual information about the study beyond the click bate title. Many companies have started that based on their own calculations remote work isn’t as productive and are bringing people back to work. We went through this with yahoo back in the day. Large companies track productivity and overwhelmingly it shows that remote work doesn’t work.

No it’s not official lol. Anyone who actually is doing WFH or has any new hire knows this is 100% false hahahah. But but! My office value! Local businesses/counties/cities will lose out on precious money, due to the Tiger Woods 1996 2022 Shirt and I will buy this lack of workers driving into our outdated metropolises! Many of the WFH discussions and articles are reduced to only talking about “worker productivity” and miss a vital perspective of the larger picture at hand. Where I work, there is a ton of wasted time. Meetings that could be emails, chatting with coworkers, people looking at phones, etc. When we (temporary) went remote, the social distractions disappeared so I was able to finish my assignments that day earlier. Boss didn’t care as long as I did them so I logged off the sever and went about other things in my day. New boss instituted rules that you have to stay logged a mandatory minimum eight hrs a work day. So until the “punch out” time, I’d play with my mouse, type random keys in the window so if there was a mouse movement/keystroke per hour tracker wouldn’t be dropping. So if anything I gained productivity due to remote and lost it making a minimum time logged in and lost it returning to physical office. Yeah, but companies are sitting on a shit load of investment in commercial real estate so they have to force people to come work on a computer in the same location to justify the money they wasted.
