Or perhaps he hits back and puts to bed any further abuse that may have happened in the future? Most of them don’t understand. There’s 0 repercussions for women in 99% of cases. If a man lashes out even in self defence he is fucked. Had an issue with an ex harassing me after I left her (for being abusive and manipulative). Coming into my work threatening to kill me, making false complaints to head office, waiting by my car or along the route to it after work. I’m 6 1 she was 5 4. Kept going to the police and was told “you’re a big boy, you can sort it out”. It wasn’t until I said “ok then, next time she’s by my car I’ll lamp her out. I’ll explain when the police come that you said I’m a big boy and can sort it out”. She got arrested 3 times (on 3 consecutive days), electronics searched and convicted of harassment. My first wife became physically violent after we married. We had been together for 10 years leading up to that point and she never showed any signs of physical aggression. I had to grab her arms and pin her against a wall until she calmed down on many occasions. I could easily overpower her, but only did so when she just wouldn’t stop hitting. She’d go into a blind rage. I would have called the police, but feared how that would turn out.

The one time I told a police office about it I was almost arrested for domestic abuse myself- they literally did everything they could to try to flip it around and pin me as the abuser. I’ll never trust cops again. This is very common unfortunately. My father-in-law called the police because his wife was being physically abusive to him. He was arrested and nothing was done to her. Yep, same here. I’m all bloody and beaten and my roommates called the police because my ex was beating the shit out of me in the driveway. So cops show up and she has a slight red mark from where I had my hand held out trying to keep her off of me. They put me in handcuffs and then in the back of a cruiser. Only thing that saved my ass was one of the officers that showed up later had been out to every call I had made when she was assaulting me. But all that did was get me out of being arrested, nothing happened with her. This behavior continued until I finally had enough money to move different states. Then I get a surprise paternity summons because she was apparently pregnant with my child, turns out she was somehow pregnant 11 months after the last time we had sex. No idea how the fuck that works but that’s what happened 10 years ago.
