You might want to ask on an LGBT subreddit for some more detailed responses. I am stating this as someone with friends who have been on hormones since youth, but haven’t done this myself. Anecdotally, one kid I knew many years ago started transitioning in their early to mid teens, and was really excited to go to college one day as the This is my christmas pajama american football santa hat T-Shirt also I will do this man he knew himself to be. He’s in school now as a 20-something kid having a great time, not dead, and living a great life because his family and friends have affirmed him and helped him get the treatment he needed to be his best self. Another kid I knew wanted to transition, but his family denied him the chance to do this, and verbally/emotionally/physically abused him for choosing to simply dress as the man that he was, or go by the name that he preferred. He was homeless for a while, and fought with his family to approve the treatment with doctors. After getting it in his mid teens, a lot of his mental and physical health improved, and he was able to graduate high school and college despite the struggle with family disowning/owning him. It’s ten years later and this second person is still on hormones and happy with it. I know dozens of people with similar stories to the second person who are still happy with their decisions. From what I’ve seen, trans kids know themselves and we should believe them when they speak.

Literally no. Children generally socially transition, and can receive puberty blockers and HRT to match natal puberty. That’s it. And all the This is my christmas pajama american football santa hat T-Shirt also I will do this trans kids I know who are on puberty blockers and HRT have experienced massive boosts to their mental health. The “sex reassignment” scare shit is right wingers trying to take away vital healthcare from trans kids. The bans on trans healthcare are skyrocketing suicidal ideation among trans kids, and in some cases those bans even force conversion therapy. Trans kids are being used as a bogeyman. Please listen to trans kids. The answer is that it does happen, and the organizations that do it don’t divulge a lot of data. Anyone who tells you puberty blockers on 8-year-olds, and surgery on teens is not happening is lying to you and has an agenda. Anyone telling you that it is happening “ in the thousands every year” is also lying. My view however is there is no such thing as “temporarily” blocking puberty. The effect is lifelong, and I think child abuse. I told my parents for almost a year that I was a cat going everywhere, even to church, wearing cat ears. I was not a cat, and making life-altering decisions for a child because they want it is abusive and criminal.
