I know in my life parents have been willing to let their kids live with them as adults. Mine did, my GF did. I have multiple cousins and friends who have lived with their parents. I even follow a guy on twitter who appears to have a decently high paying job and lives with his folks. It’s probably way more parents cool with their kids living with them than parents who are adamant about kicking them out at 18 But it’s pretty clearly stated that on the The Weekend The Weeknd Dawn fm the fifth studio album T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this child’s 18th birthday, at the hour of their birth, they are REQUIRED to get the heck out. I joined the military while still in high school during my senior year. Graduated on my 18th birthday and left for basic training 23 days later. my stepdad was abusive and I got out as fast as I could. When my daughter turned 18 she said she was going to college in another state where she was accepted but after moving her there during the summer she fessed up that she moved there to be with her girlfriend and never went to school. A year later she wanted to come home so we moved her and her girlfriend back to our state. Two months later they broke up and now we’re moving our daughter again. We’ve offered to let her come back home so she can live rent free and build her savings up and offered to pay for her to go to community college to complete her prerequisite courses but she wants to live on her own. After this next move, I’m cutting her off from financial help from me anymore. Over the last two years she has not gone to college or a trade school to learn a skill for a career and has been jumping from one dead end job to another. I’ve dumped thousands of dollars into moving costs and covering her rent and move in fees (first and last months rent and security deposit) as well as making her car payments and insurance payment. If she wants anymore financial assistance from me she will have to be enrolled in school or move back into our house to get it. I’m retired, not a charity, and definitely not paying for her to waste her life flipping burgers.

That being said there is a cultural difference. I see that many Eastern cultures are very family oriented and are always there to help eachother in times of need. American culture is very individualistic, every one is separate with our separate advantages and disadvantages, and it’s up to us to figure out how to overcome those disadvantages. Helping is less frequent cause there is less trust within communities and families. Another thing is money, the cost of living is skyrocketing and many people can barely afford fresh produce let alone fully support one or more fully grown adults. Most people don’t do this… some should though. My mom for example enables my 44 year old alcoholic brother, allows him to live with her rent free, buys/ makes him dinner, buys him cigs & alcohol, bails him out of jail, etc. I’ve always wondered if his life would be diff if she kicked him out & stopped enabling him a long time ago.
