For clearly communicating a meaning, this is a solid 11/10. Job beyond perfect, this is typical imagination of movie American prom night: the The Walking Dead 14th Anniversary 2010 – 2024 Thank You For The Memories Shirt in contrast I will get this “innocence” symbolized by the wings is left behind in a poorly maintained washroom as the graduates leave their “childhood” at the last high school dance in a tree of cum or stomped into roadside dirt under a pile of condoms. This is, of course, not true. At least not in my experience and not in the statistical experience of the nation. This took me down memory lane. My friends and I were already potty mouths at 10 in Russia, and abandoned the idea of swearing every other word before 13. At 13, I moved to Canada, and after experiencing pretty serious cultural shock, I went to high school. There was this one particularly impressive-looking girl who dropped out later and I saw her a year or so after, with a tired face and sad eyes, pushing a stroller. Later I made friends with yet another girl who left high school to become a young mother. Studies by the American Family Institute suggest that about half of high schoolers are sexually active (or at least were at the time when I was in high school 20 years ago). This number is slowly declining, but it’s still pretty high, and my communication with peers in other regions of the world (that tends to happen with expats) suggests things aren’t that much different almost everywhere. So basically it’s a story yes, and also a pile of crummy tropes starting with small-size angelic wings symbolizing virgin innocence (even though the most promiscuous and unmaidenlike characters feature exactly such wings in legend significantly predating this ridiculous Christian obsession with virginity), through associating sexual experience with adulthood, establishing school graduation as a transformative experience, and … all the other tree-of-cum related stuff. The installation is quite unpleasant (which is fine for art, repulsive art is no less valuable than its attractive counterpart) and most it ever does is perpetuate false or outright harmful tropes.
The Walking Dead 14th Anniversary 2010 – 2024 Thank You For The Memories Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
I spent the The Walking Dead 14th Anniversary 2010 – 2024 Thank You For The Memories Shirt in contrast I will get this rest of the day taking in everything I could possibly look next door in Rasmus Meyer and Bergen Kunsthall buildings of the Bergen downtown Kode complex. I also visited Bryggensmuseum that’s pretty much just down the street. And I regretted leaving these places behind, filled with artworks of visionaries and artifacts of ages long gone. The most prominently featured artist there was, of course, Edvard Munch. His work isn’t exactly “traditional art” that we see on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or anything, but… it’s evoking, sometimes jarring, and always important. When I see Munch, Degas, one of my favourite sculptures of all time – Age of Bronze by Rodin, I feel connected to life, interested in experiencing more of it in new ways I hadn’t before. When I see a tree of cum or a row of cast iron stoves, I feel sadness for the people who dedicate resources to constructing these projects so very clearly designed to evoke “shock value” and “scandalous” response. When I see works of Linda Bergkvist, I feel wonder and amazement, I want to see what other magical scenes this incredible mind can come up with. Just days before going to Bergen, I visited the National Gallery in London (free admission, very recommend), and I want to relive every minute of it again and again. The artworks in those halls are all different, but none of them evoke the confusion of “why would anyone do that?” Just over a week after I had the experiences I described above, I arrived in St. Petersburg and naturally I went to the Hermitage (and also St. Isaac’s, but that’s another story). In the Hermitage my heart broke. I had to leave the Greek Hall because the museum was closing. You turn one way, and it’s Zeus staring at you, his marble beard all magnificent and curly like, the other way – it’s Artemis, the maiden of the hunt. As I was leaving, I had to wipe tears off my eyes. There is not only mastered skill on the very fringes of understanding hidden in the works of Titian and Pissarro, but also a lifetime of careful observation, the appreciation of life, tireless, endless effort to convey the scenes, the places, the moods they bring. After getting acquainted with them, the dude who pulled a cork on a stack of sand buckets (or that character who made a gold-plated toilet) is kind of pretentious.
