If you are calling Birmingham city centre bad then I think you need to get about a bit more. I’ve lived in Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, and visited many other cities. None of their city centres conpare to Birmingham’s. Have you seen the bull ring shopping centre and Selfridge’s building? Symphony hall? Central library? The biggest German market outside of Germany? The mailbox? grand central? The city is literally known for it’s interesting architecture in the centre. Digbeth is also an up and coming area in the center with a good nightlife- although I admit the walk there is a bit sketchy. I am not even sure what you are talking about! Unless something has drastically changed recently, Birmingham is a great city. It is vibrant and multicultural and has made the most of its industrial heritage. Our daughter went to Uni there and she loved Birmingham. We didnt know it that well before she went, but became very fond of it visiting her. I think it’s just personal opinion to be honest. I absolutely love the city I live in, some people that I work with and a coupem friends hate it and think it’s ‘gone to shit’

Birmingham is actually one of the best, most vibrant cities in the country with a wealth of things to do. Not sure what OP is talking about. Manchester and Glasgow feel more “major” to me but birmingham even compared to 5 let alone 10 years ago has a huge amount of redevelopment Birmingham is a city you either love or hate, I’m local (Black Country born and bred) so for me I like Birmingham and enjoy visiting as part of the wider West Midlands we both form. It has some really good small museums such as Sarehole Mill and it has given the Black Country something too in shows like the Peaky Blinders which are filmed at the Black Country Museum. A lot of what makes Birmingham, Birmingham though is outside the City Centre and like any city you need to play it a bit safe but if you do, you will find its a place rich in Culture and History from the four big Football teams in Villa, Blues, Wolves and the Baggies to our roots as the birthplace of Heavy Metal (Black Sabbath is the big one but Robert Plant and John Bonham of Led Zeppelin fame are both Midlands lads not to mention we have Judas Priest for more Metal as well as UB40 if the Reggae sound is more your thing).
