The Department of National Resources only allows so many “tags.” Once a certain number of animals have been killed, nobody else is allowed to hunt that species in that area. Everyone doesn’t hunt, but I agree that hunters should be able to kill as many as needed to feed homeless/underprivileged. Unfortunately, there’s a lot more to it. Hunters pay for their guns, their ammunition and their licenses. Many pay thousands of dollars per year for “leased” land with exclusive rights. It’s legal to kill a hog as long as some other season is open (ie squirrel, deer, coon) or year around on private land.
