Your roommate is not required to pay more for services you receive just because you requested it. It’s not greed. It’s their money. Would it be a kind thing to do? Yes. But you cannot reasonably get upset at them for saying no. The shampoo comment was probably just to get you off their ass. You don’t get to say you’ve got this idea and you’re so generous by making other people pay, nor do you get to choose what people do with their own money. It’s good etiquette to give anyone that provides you a regular service throughout the year a holiday/end of year bonus.
