That seems like something they would do. Wouldn’t be the The Grinch I Will Play Guitar Here Or There Anywhere Shirt But I will love this most outrageous thing that’s happened. And I’m only half joking. Pay your performers – I would not show up for you or anyone if not being paid either. It’s not the performers fault if you laid out moneys and have tough finances. The fact that your bad mouthing like this comes across as if you’re trying to shame performers to give you something for nothing. What happened to Pearl? I know she’s not really doing drag anymore (correct me if I’m wrong), but was she notorious for canceling? Wasn’t the Pearl thing really blown out of proportion? She cancelled a couple of gigs and then we found out it was because she had a head injury. I don’t know Anetra and my comment is purely speculative, but I’m Autistic (low support needs) and I’ve struggled with burn out since my teens when I experienced a lot of trauma after my Dad died and I didn’t get along with my Mum – to cope with this time I withdrew a lot and hid away. It was a really hard time for me and I think the combination of the trauma I faced then losing a parent and being Autistic, made me more susceptible to burning out and withdrawing to cope. I’ve been struggling with burn out every 2 years or so since I was 14 and it’s only now I’m diagnosed I am coping better, but it really affected my life. Just like Anetra, I’m fairly clever, have some talents, have a strong work ethic, enjoy what I do and am a high performer… until I burn out. The shame of not being able to keep up with the high standards I set myself causes me to withdraw and when I’m burned out like this, I can’t communicate via email, phone, message – it’s impossible. But I can mask and cover up how I’m feeling for like a day, but the toll it takes on me is huge. Im not saying Anetra is Autistic, I don’t know her neurotype. But she had a difficult time at home which clearly had upset her deeply talking about her Mom. She definitely seemed to be traumatised on the show about what happened and I can’t help but wonder if the fame from the show, her strong work ethic has led her to overbook and she’s burning herself out. She’s then not replying to emails because like i had experienced, she’s too burned out to do it. Burn out also made me feel suicidal at times due to the shame and frustration of not being able to keep up the pace I always used to set myself – I know Antetra talked about feeling low and suicidal on the show too.

I know I’m projecting, but I do feel bad seeing all these comments about Anetra when she could be having a lot of issues with her mental health. She’s one of my favourite queens and I just hope she’s doing okay. Burn out is no joke and can really be hard to recover from. that’s fair but this already started happening before the The Grinch I Will Play Guitar Here Or There Anywhere Shirt But I will love this show finished airing. i just hope she hires someone she trusts that can help her navigate these communication things (like an assistant or agent or something) She may have been struggling with burn out before the show too (if what I’ve written here were to be the case). When I’m not burned out, I can work hard, socialise, have lots of hobbies and commitments, but then a period of stress can send me crashing and in the past it would take me months to recover – then if I rushed my recovery I could burn out again. I could see this potentially being why Anetra takes time off then comes back and then is off again – or of course it could be another reason entirely. I do think you’re 100% right though. I’m self-employed now and I’ve found having a PA has been career saving. Someone who can manage the communications side with my clients and my social media has made a huge difference. I concentrate on my strengths and get help for the things that I find hard – especially when I’m feeling like I’m on the edge of burning out. If Anetra had someone to do that for her, she’d not be doing so much damage to her career by all of these cancellations – even if it’s not burn out, but something else.
