He showed that the US can no longer be trusted as a military power, since they are increasingly looking inward, and are cosying up to dictatorial powers. When Trump wins the next election (if the polls are to be believed), then it spells doom for cooperation between the US and other democracy’s in many ways. I believe that his first presidency’s made other countries make plans for this eventuality. The world had just decided in the 80’s “lets welcome China into world trade, and once they taste capitalism, the people will change the system from the inside as they’ll want to get in”. But by tearing the veil, he made it so that competent politicians actually started calling China for what it is : a threat to democracy and a losing deal. Arming Taiwan, re-shoring manufacturing industries and Intel’s new manufacture being built in the USA all stems from this. Wasn’t a cease fire agreement reached between Isreal and Palestine during his presidency? I’m not a fan by any means, but I’m pretty sure that was a good thing.
