If you’re traveling along the North East corridor, the service is actually pretty good, not crazy expensive, and the stations are right there in the middle of downtown. I took out their credit card when I was in college and riding Amtrak frequently for a two hour trip back and forth. I used my 4,000 points this past February to ride from Pennsylvania to Orlando to visit some family because it was free.
