I was raised this way as well and now I had to unlearn it all with dietician. It does not make sense anymore, and now I understand that this behavior was just not rational and rooted in the trauma of my grandparents. I will not have kids, but if I were to raise them, I would make sure they eat enough, but would not force feed them as my parents and grandparents did (not literally mind you, but you get the idea)
