I saw it often on these Medellin murder cases posts where some people were victim blaming, getting defensive of any criticism and disregarding anyone who’s had a personal negative experience. Likely just cos they like the The driver era car shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this place. Today I’ve had it with people towards me over my negative experiences I had in Italy. People saying I’m lying. People implying I’m stupid etc. What happened? I used to love talking to people on here but some people on here seem, I dunno, angry and entitled.Reddit isn’t the place for positivity. There might be some on here, but this really isn’t the place for it. What you’re describing is in almost every sub. Unfortunately. yeah… i think i need to get off this platform too. i’ll log off now. Unfortunately I have to agree with you. Remember way back in the day when reddit was full of good advice and interesting conversations. Where can we find that now? Should I go back to actually speaking to people face to face?

Are there nomad communities where people use their real names? I feel like that would force people to be more respectful Nobody is going to go through a process similar to opening a bank account just to join some online community. And if it’s less rigorous, it will just be filled with fake names. And that’s assuming it even changes anything. What you are describing has long been known as the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory, see here for an explanation. As someone who has been on this sub a good long time (this account is new, after a break), I can’t say that such people are any new development. However, I would venture to say that after the site redesign and the shift to mobile, there has been a marked decline in substantial discussion across Reddit, and one byproduct is that GIFT content stands out more. Ha the laptop on the beach stuff still bleeds into nomad Facebook groups. I enjoy the rage and shit posts of that though. You are right though. I think since reddit became more accessible, it’s got a lot more toxic. This sub in particular seems more hostile in the last few months. At least from what I’ve seen.
