Lmao I used to know a guy who was like that. Thought he was invincible. Couple years back he got into a major accident with a hauler and is now paralyzed neck down and locked in a wheelchair with brain damage and slurs his speech. Yeah, this’ll prolly happen anyway at some point. My mum is a pretty harsh braker anyway and I’ve avoided a few broken noses thanks to seatbelts. All it’ll take is one idiot cutting op off or something and their friend will learn. Weird thing to be stubborn about tbh. Tell her that you do not want to risk a fine and refuse to drive with her. You’re not being silly at all. She’s a danger to herself and anybody sharing a car with her, and it’s not silly to care about that. I have two friends who have been the sole survivors of horrific crashes, and each one was the only person in their car wearing a seatbelt. IIRC, one sustained head injuries from a non-belted passenger, too. Your friend has been lucky so far, but I truly hope she realises how silly she’s being before that luck runs out. Know that you’re not going to change her mind on it though. You don’t have to unfriend her about it, but you don’t have to let her endanger you either. Let her do what she’s gonna do, but draw a hard line when it comes to your own safety, because that’s all you can really control. Kindly explain that you respect her right to make her own decisions, but you also have the right to keep yourself safe, so you won’t be riding in cars with her for as long as she’s not wearing a seatbelt. If she takes offence, that’s a consequence of her decision and is not your problem to fix.
