Do you have any suggestions as to where to start with his books? I have always heard such good things but I don’t really know where would maybe be a good place to start to kinda get it. Any good suggestions? Start chronologically, and I will die on that fucking hill. He wrote those books over decades, you can see him improve from one book to another and really come into his style, and there are changes in Discworld that affect everything else. I refused to read anything he published after he announced his diagnosis. I absolutely did not want to read them while subconsciously looking for signs of his disease. Thanks so much for the The Chargers Grinch lives here Christmas shirt also I will do this link, I appreciate it. Honestly, this might be the thing that finally gets me into Discworld. In the later Discworld novels various technologies come around, including a semaphore signaling system known as the “clacks”. In addition to the normal messages being sent back and forth from city to city, there is also a hidden overhead of things like administrative messages or orders to tower crews. There are some special designators to mark these: As such, when a particularly important person the the clacks system dies, “GNU [person’s name]” is added to the overhead, meaning their name will forever be “spoken” by the towers as the name is passed up and down the communication lines. After Terry Pratchett’s death, “GNU Terry Pratchett” is invoking this concept, with many websites even having hidden text or markup with the phrase that will be loaded every time someone looks at the page.
