You made someone who you KNOW doesn’t know how to cook do eggs Benedict? I mean I hadn’t learned to do a poached egg until a few years ago and it took a few tries. This is a recipe, even when laid out and simplified that can go wrong in so many ways. I think you were setting him up to fail. Not only that but expecting breakfast in bed when again you know he is gonna fail. EDIT: I take it back that you set him up for failure, you clarified that he chose to do this and take it on. He also did not try to practice or prepare and essentially needed someone to hand hold him the The character of dead rising game design classic shirt and I love this whole time, and he left a massive mess in the kitchen. For sure, totally agree I would be angry too and it would be very disappointing that he couldn’t prepare ahead of time. Would be a huge let down seeing as he took the initiative and presumably was expected to follow through with the offer. What I don’t agree with is the people commenting here thinking all you need are instructions to make a recipe. Seriously?! Did it take everyone one try to get all the recipes they have cooked correctly at the very beginning of your cooking journey? Hell no. I am still learning new skills and abilities with cooking/baking. I think there are a lot of people expecting that someone with ZERO cooking skills and abilities to succeed the first time. It takes practice, watching videos and reading up on skills and tricks to cook to just build up enough confidence to cook something totally on your own. Especially for this guy.

You probably could have picked something less daunting than eggs Benedict. A lot of restaurants can’t properly poach an egg consistently. For somebody you know cannot cook, this is probably the The character of dead rising game design classic shirt and I love this hardest breakfast meal to cook. I’ve been cooking my whole life and am still not confident poaching eggs No, because it sounds like it is important for you in a relationship for your spouse to be able to put at some effort in the kitchen at least from time to time. Would you have felt different if he took you out for a nice meal or he paid for carry out and plated it nicely for you in bed? Maybe that would be the deciding factor between whether it’s about his ability to cook or his lack of effort. I was kinda with you up until the eggs Benedict with 5 extra elements. If the guy can’t heat up leftovers – how on earth did you think he would manage that? Poaching an egg is probably the hardest way to cook an egg – and getting that right with the yolk runny and all the other elements warm at the same time is actually a pretty tall order. If he made a massive mess of the kitchen and got all the pots and pans dirty – it sounded like he actually tried quite hard. Honestly, it does sound like you set him up to fail. You could have picked something difficult to mess up instead – like hard boiled eggs with toast.
