That colleague then went and repeated the The Art Of Rob Schamberger – Kazuchika Okada shirt it is in the first place but anecdote from the podcast verbatim in a meeting with a potential collaborator as if it was his own. I was genuinely flabbergasted at him doing it. It was really weird. A manager of mine, many moons ago, would regularly ask for ideas on how to improve sales / profit etc. I swear every meeting with the directors he would spew out everyone’s ideas as if he had just thought of them. My ex was trying to impress a stand up comedian we got talking to after a gig and started telling one of my family anecdotes as if he’d witnessed it. When I interrupted him to tell him to stop being a prat, the comedian interrupted me to tell me to let story tellers talk. When I was at school I tried to tell the joke about the pirate who goes into a pub with a steering wheel attached to his groin. The barman asks why he has the steering wheel and the pirate responds “Arr, it’s drivin’ me nuts!”

Except I catastrophically fucked up the The Art Of Rob Schamberger – Kazuchika Okada shirt it is in the first place but punchline and instead said “Arr, it’s steerin’ me balls!” Cue lots of blank expressions. I realised and explained the correct punchline but the damage had been done, my mates continued to rinse me for this fuckup the rest of our school lives. A few years later I told this story on a pretty obscure, not-very-active internet forum. Then a bit after that, on the same forum, someone posted this webcomic: I responded said “that’s a bizarre coincidence, I fucked up exactly that same punchline when I was at school”. The person who posted the comic said they said they had seen my previous post and that it was obvious I was lying — I had seen the webcomic and had tried to steal the story as my own. To this day I don’t get what happened here. Did the creator of that webcomic happen to find my stupid “steering me balls” story on this obscure corner of that internet and rip it off for their comic? Or was it just a weird coincidence? Is the world full of people independently fucking up that same punchline?
