Almost every poll shows that the vast majority of people think the two presidential nominees are too old… yet they are still winning the nomination with flying colors. Make it make sense. no… but all politicians should undergo a trial after every term with death as the only punishment when found guilty of anything… When you’re a little older 65 does not seem so old. It would be a shame to be forced into quitting something that drives you forward when you are still sharp and capable at 65.

We have age restrictions in this range on military leadership and pilots. Also, at least in the US the median life expectancy is 73-77 based on gender. People may live longer, but statistically a 65 year old will be dead in a decade. They have no business making decisions that you won’t have to live with the consequences of. That might be a bit young. I’d say maybe something like, your last term as a federal elected official has to commence prior to your reaching full Social Security retirement age (currently 67 – just an example for the USA). So like the oldest senators would be retiring by age 72-73 and I think that would be the highest possible age among elected officials.
