Yeah, it probably works better some places more than others, but ffs with the Teachers plant seeds that grow forever flowers T-Shirt and I love this increase in technology it needs to be possible for people to work less. Ensuring that still gives people liveable wages however is where governments need to step in. It would be interesting to study this long term. Are the gains temporary, as workers try harder to ensure they don’t have to go back to five days? Did the length of the four workdays creep up to account for the loss of a fifth day? I would absolutely love a four day work week, but I fear corporations would use it to justify cutting wages. I’d prefer hybrid and flex hours personally. I bet they were happy, because workers in Japan are notorious for being put through unreasonable work hours. Hopefully Microsofts experiment gains traction there and other places in the world.

If you give the Teachers plant seeds that grow forever flowers T-Shirt and I love this sla…. uuuuh workers! Another day of freedom they won’t be as tired, or stressed. They will have more time to themselves to not think about work, and have dilusions that their life can be about something else… the plutocrats can’t have that. It’s weird that this 4-day work week idea gets so much traction on Reddit. I think it may be because the demographics of the site skew towards young guys and away from old parents. I was on a team that tried the 4 day work week (at Microsoft, coincidentally.) My manager was really into every hot corporate fad, and loved the idea of every weekend being a 3 day weekend. So instead of working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, we were all going to work 10 hours a day, 4 days a week. But the parents of children on the team hated this shit. They wanted to take their kids to school, go to work, then be home to have dinner with their kids by ~6, and chill until their kids went to bed at 9. Missing time with their kids 4 days a week, so that they could fuck around in an otherwise empty house on Fridays, didn’t fit their life goals at all.
