This guy in the Teach Black History Month Teacher African Pride Afro Melanin T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this picture should NOT be handed an engineering degree for pulling that crap. Unless he can accurately calculate the mechanics of the material he’s proping that ladder against, and the force in newtons exerted on it from the ladder he’s living dangerously. It’s not smart and it’s not safe, but the top of ladder is taking most of the force, and it’s not going anywhere. As long as the foot of the ladder doesn’t slip on the wooden surface, it’s a pretty solid arrangement. Was just thinking the same thing. It looks like they’ve placed the feet either side of one of the pillars of the barrier and the bottom rung is resting against it. It would need the stepladder frame to snap for an accident which could happen on a wooden ladder I guess. The bottom rung should have a metal bar underneath so should be sturdy enough. Not the brightest plan maybe but many of us have climbed worse. Even then I would hazard most wooden ladders have an internal iron rod for safety purposes. At least my dad had one like that. Fucker lasted from the 70’s. The ladder not my dad. He lasted from the 50’s

I think it looks worse because of it being a step ladder. I’d be happier if it was tied off to the Teach Black History Month Teacher African Pride Afro Melanin T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this bottom rail and off to the side. Correct, but safety factor is a thing for a reason. Though calculations may say that the ladder’s good for thrice or even 4X the weight, an engineer will still sweat profusely at this OSHA doesn’t give two shits about a couple of yokels painting a stairwell in an income-based cinder block apartment building. All they had to do was duct tape the roller to a broom handle lol. It’s not even that far away from the railing. I have 1 friend who did this many times by several jobs (plasterer), one day it get very bad and he fell down and lost 1 eye. So yes, i know i never ever are gonna do this. It’s not as dangerous as it looks. Not much different to using an extension ladder except there’s a massive hole below you and the balustrades are holding the ladder from sliding and you dying. Pretty much safe) Dudes got a lot more balls, and less brains then I do. My self preservation instinct kicks in just looking at that picture. Crazy but ladder isn’t going anywhere unless the bottom slips past the base of the baluster. I would hope at least one leg is against a board and not between boards
