I got up to use it during the night, opened the door and a tramp was fast asleep on the pot. I startled him awake, actually apologised then ran back in to tell my Dad but when we went back out, he’d scarpered. Yeah I remember the “toilet friend” from the 70s. Dads spending all their spare time visiting them. Constantly “needing a wee”. Nipping out in the middle of the night for a “chat”. I miss the days of having a resident toilet friend. Great days. My Dad and I were walking through some field in Oxfordshire, the field had a mix of cows and sheep. We were just walking along and a sheep looked at us both and said “moooooooo” then walked off. To this day no one believes us. This is my utterly boring story that I bring up if ever anyone tries “have you ever had something supernatural happen to you” as an icebreaker. To clarify, I am not a supernatural person. I do not believe in ghosts, psychics, blah blah etc. All I think is that I cannot for the life of me truly explain what caused this. It’s so mundane as well. But it used to really gnaw at me.

We’re fucking about, the teacher makes some comment like [paraphrasing]: “If you keep fucking about, I will make you all stay after to make sure you actually finish these questions – for as long as it takes. I just said it. It was stupid and weird and I got some flak for it. I don’t know why I did it. The crazy thing is I remember perfectly what was happening before and after my remark… but I can’t remember what the name was anymore. That’s my utterly dumb “supernatural” story. I don’t believe I’m psychic, or that there were “ghosts”. It just bugs me because I know I don’t understand why it happened. Even if I had somehow heard the maths teacher mention that name before (maybe I somehow overheard it in passing, if he was talking to another teacher at a different time during the day? But I really doubt that), I don’t know why I felt so compelled to say it. I was a quiet kid, I clearly remember the panic in me that I couldn’t stop myself from speaking in the silence.
