I don’t understand why it’s some dirty little secret that people want to work with people that they know and that they like. Realistically it’s both, some roles you can get away with not knowing much, but connections only get you in the Super james outman sport shirt and by the same token and door. This is something I struggled with acceping when I started college… In high school you hear that it’s all about GPAs and test scores and a meritocracy… And then in college the professors tell you the only really important thing you get out of going there is the network of people you’ll meet Yes, networking and knowing people increases the chances that when you ask for help or opportunity you might get it. Folks dont gamble on strangers as much as aquaintances or friends University/college is a time where a lot of people hone their interpersonal skills. Building that skill set is critical for most people’s future success.
