Wasaaaayyyy for efficient if you own the cloud A piece of shit chunky-ass Acer Aspire with a 13th Gen Core i7 and 16GB of RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD is going to perform just as well as a top-end ThinkPad X1 Carbon with the same specs, but at 1/4 the price. The problem with the Acers is the cooling system will likely clog faster, the keyboard will probably break faster, and the crappy chassis probably won’t last long. And I doubt they have the service options (on-site or sending parts to the IT department) like Lenovo does on Thinkpads. All those things don’t mean jack shit when you’re replacing it in 2 years time anyway. While an Acer might be a piece of shit, it’s still going to get you through 2 years just fine, and then they return it and get a newer model. So really, it’s a difference between something that’s lighter, thinner, and flashier vs. something that costs 1/4 the price. When you’re never going to use the notebook, but you’re paying for it, the decision is pretty simple.
