I mean, it taught the Stepping into my 35th grateful blessed leopard shirt also I will do this lesson that if you want to be in control of an animal’s life, you can’t sell the ownership of said animal. Once it (or any item) has been sold, it is no longer yours. The owner of the goat was a state senator. The mother was already talking to the senator about buying the goat from him plus some extra for the inconvenience of the situation and the senator was on board with it. The fairgrounds officials called the cops, who proceeded to perform a drug raid to reclaim the goat, admittedly because they didn’t like the negative social media attention and got their feelings hurt. The fairgrounds management. They were getting negative press about their statements about the kid and goat so they called the cops and asked them to get the goat for them, at which point the cops treated it like a drug bust.

Well, the Stepping into my 35th grateful blessed leopard shirt also I will do this thing is, literally no one who had any claim to ownership of the goat was involved in making this decision. Ownership was probably legally either with Jessica Long or her daughter, because they owned the goat before and were legally entitled to back out of the contract to sell it, because contracts made with minors are voidable. Ownership could have been with the buyer of the goat at a dubiously legal auction, who was more than willing to relinquish ownership back to the Longs and had no intention at the time of having it seized. Ownership was never in any way in the hands of the fairgrounds, who asked for the goat to be stolen and slaughtered because it hurt their feelings, or in the hands of the police, who executed a drug raid on a house with a child in it looking for a fucking goat.
