As someone who was classed a “key worker” at the Stay Positive Shirt Besides,I will do this time (telecoms Industry), I miss the lack of traffic on the roads. Getting to jobs was an absolute breeze. Nothing, it never should have happened and only reflects a crazy period of time that I’m embarrassed to be part of forever more. The peace, the lack of pressure to go out and socialise. I know that sounds weird but my social anxiety was grateful. Seeing all the stuff on the news about nature getting better. I miss there not being weekly threads even 3 years later about how anti social reddit types enjoyed being paid two grand a month to sit at home on their thumbs and how great it was. Before lockdown I stayed in my own flat and was happy with life. Moved back in with my folks (while still having my flat) into their ‘bubble’ during lockdown. Once I moved back into the flat I was struggling to eat, dry mouth etc etc. Ended up I has stress and hypertension so am now staying with my folks almost perm while using the flat to WFH. Would love to be able to have what I had prior now. I miss being at home with my family. I was off work, wife was furloughed then WFH. We spent 5 months at home together. Now we’re all rushing around hardly seeing each other! Absolutely nothing at all. I had to keep going into work because the company I’m subcontracted to had NHS contracts that needed fulfilment. I felt scammed to be honest. “Key workers” but the industry I’m in didn’t get any of the recognition for our part. Not disparaging medical staff and retail workers, they are important, but there were a lot more than them keeping the country going. Couldn’t go anywhere, everything fun was shut and there was a a massive queue to get into the supermarket, luck of the draw if things you needed were in stock.

Without social media, being unable to talk to people important to me probably would have sent me down a darker place mentally. It was far from a good time for me. The tiered restrictions were better in that respect. The novelty of being able to go places again when lockdown was eased. It made things you don’t really think about (like going to the Stay Positive Shirt Besides,I will do this cinema or just out for a casual lunch) feel a bit more special. Also my husband and I decided to go through every single Marvel movie that summer so every night was like a big event. I even got LED lights to go on the back of the TV to make it feel more like a cinema. As a vet nurse who worked throughout, there were many things I hated about lockdown. However, my job became immensely more enjoyable when all our clients had to wait outside and we could focus on the animals. It definitely presented some challenges and made certain types of appointments really hard, but we got significantly less abuse from clients because we were only seeing truly unwell patients and everyone had more time and understanding. The clients were also all waiting together in the car park so I think they managed and modified their behaviour because there were others around them, so that reduced the abuse we received too. They could also see the emergencies we were dealing with first hand and had more sympathy for us I think.
