I recently got my results back from 23andMe and I’m puzzled. My dad was born in Canada. However, his dad (my granddad) is English: the State Hockey Championships NDHSAA 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this family immigrated from England (Grimsby) to Canada in the early 1900s. My dad’s mother’s family immigrated from Poland and are Ukrainian. Both my mom’s parents are German, and immigrated from Germany. My DNA test shows I am almost 70% German. And 25% Eastern European. The remaining 5% is very mixed, including 1% English. But how could I only have 1% English DNA when my dad assumedly has 50% English DNA? Shouldn’t I have at least 25% English DNA?You’ve got to remember that much of England has German ancestry too, since great swathes of people moved here in the medieval era (Angles, Saxons).

Even the State Hockey Championships NDHSAA 2024 Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this british royals have german ancestry…I’m pretty sure ancestry testing services don’t lump Anglo-Saxons and German nationals into the same category. Those population groups have been distinct for ~1,500 years. Pre-400 CE “English” genes would look very similar to contemporary Welsh, or even Irish, with slight Mediterranean admixture from the occupying Romans. Exactly this. For me one side is six generations in Canada, from Ireland, and maybe Norman prior. Other side is Dutch that came over after the war. I am 68% ‘Great Britain’ as that genome covers the UK, eastern Ireland and the Netherlands. If you don’t like the ethnicity estimate download your DNA sequence and upload it to GEDMATCH and pick different ethnicity algorithms until you get one you like.
