Always the Star Wars Endor Summer Camp Shirt and I love this scheduling… when do I have time to cook a meal, and when do I need to throw something on a timer while I do other things? I’ve found that normally the time I spend figuring that out is ample time to just make a meal, but I still won’t change my ways Kinda depends on what a person means by “from scratch”, too. I’ve seen Americans say “from scratch” and then use Rotel flavoured canned tomatoes, canned cream of mushroom soup, etc, etc, etc. That for me is not “from scratch”, but it is cooking. There is tons of food you can eat without cooking from scratch. I personally prefer to cook from scratch as much as possible, but I don’t find it at all surprising that not everyone does the same thing I do. I think canned tomatoes occupy a weird space on the “from scratch” spectrum because most tomato sauces are as good or better using canned tomatoes than fresh in my opinion. We’ve gotten so good at canning them that as long as you buy a quality can it’s basically bulletproof.

Mostly has to do with time. If you work 8-10 hours 5 days a week, you generally don’t want to spend your down time cooking if you can avoid it. While working, I cook on the Star Wars Endor Summer Camp Shirt and I love this weekends and probably 2 other nights a week. Otherwise it something from a container/box that I can make quickly. Now when I get laid off(I work seasonally at the moment) I will cook at least 6 days of the week, and splurge a little on Friday or Saturday night. This, 100%. When I get home from work I barely have enough energy to stick some food in the microwave before collapsing on my bed. Things like: pre-made soups; frozen lasagne, pizzas, chicken fingers, quiches, hamburgers, etc; jarred pasta sauce; bagged salads; rotisserie chickens; deli sandwiches; pre-made dips (hummus, tzatziki, ranch, salad dressings, etc); taco kits; crackers; cookies; flavoured yogurts; essentially anything that comes in a package. If you’re being strict, store-bought bread is technically a pre-made food. Some people don’t have the discipline and time management skills to plant, grow, harvest and mill their own wheat while simultaneously working 40 hours a week at an office job and it shows… SMH.
