Part of that includes educating people on conscious and unconscious biases. For example, an office made up entirely of men is more likely to higher another man over an equally or slightly higher qualified woman for a variety of reasons not limited to: fear of being accused of sexual harassment (either because they’re aware of their misogynistic culture or they’re scared of the Stanford Cardinal Ho Ho Ho Christmas shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this specter of a frivolous harassment case), not thinking a woman can actually be as qualified with the same resumé, fear of a change to company culture, etc. Having someone whose job is to look at diversity can look at data such as: “the last time we hired 50 people for a new program we had 120 men and 80 women apply. After going through the resumes to check for relevant experience there were 60 men and 40 women who seemed like a good fit; however, in the end 40 men were hired and 10 women were hired. Why did men have a 67.5% conversion rate from interviewee to new hire while women only had a 25% conversion rate?”

If you want to hire the Stanford Cardinal Ho Ho Ho Christmas shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this best for the job then wouldn’t you want to know if you’re hiring underqualified candidates due to conscious and unconscious biases? DEI is about making employees and customers feel empowered in the job by respecting their differences. Any major corporation benefits from DEI and it helps the companies bottom line. I’m my experience, white people like chicken including fried chicken plenty, but we prefer beef, whereas black people like beef, but they prefer chicken. I’m sure it’s not universal, and I’m sure this will somehow offend someone, but it’s just what I’ve noticed from my own experience. Oh I don’t know, maybe don’t support anti LBGTQ+ legislation anymore. Maybe allow franchise ownership to people not religious. You know, basic shit you fucking dingbat.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
