Good riddance to bad rubbish. My partner, when we moved in together (first as roommates, then we became romantically involved), couldn’t do much more than make sandwiches and microwave food. I cooked fantastic meals and he adored my food. Instead of just saying “I can’t cook”, he went out of his way to get advice from friends (his first dish was taught to him by another male friend, to cook when I was ill), watch youtube videos, read recipes, and now is an outstanding cook. He cooks more than me these days! He cooks for our friends and family too. His whole idea was that it was unfair to me to do all of the Spooky Pretend I’m A Zombie This Is My Human Costume Halloween T-Shirt in other words I will buy this cooking, and more than that, he didn’t want to go through life not being able to make good food. Anyone can learn to cook. This guy you had is not worthy of you. Someone who cares will go out of their way to learn.

No. I can’t cook myself, but I also work and contribute to housework. I can also buy things like tv dinners and microwave things. I was literally raised to be helpless (not even taught how to use a microwave), and I figured out how to use one at age 18 by looking at it for 10 seconds. I only had to ask once how to bring water to a boil, and now that means I can do things that are in a box with instructions. He is choosing to be lazy and incompetent. You were absolutely right for what you did. You don’t need another child. There’s no way he can actually be so clueless unless his mother has literally cooked (and cleaned up) every meal for him up until he met you. He just doesn’t want to have to cook or clean up after himself, so he continues to be helpless. He needs to grow up.
