I saw a clip where they think a house in new your is like 80-180k and not the Spooky Book Season living in spooky book season 365 days a year Classic T-Shirt in other words I will buy this 500k+ in some of their districts and they were like no way and thought people were lying. like no ya twit that is how it is I help my elderly neighbor I’ve known for almost 20 years and consider him and his wife like family. His wife has Alzheimer’s and he more than likely will be on the same bus ride in a few years. He is 84 and his wife 85 He wanted me to help him create a job posting for a live in nurse, not only to help with medical needs but also chores around the house and shopping. Everything was going ok writing up , he wasn’t being demanding or anything. When I asked him what he would be willing to pay, I was floored. Now… I live in Japan, got here in 98. He’s lived here (American, retired Vet and Civil Servant) since 1962. Way back then what he has in his head would have been a good salary, but he was only willing to pay $1500 / month. He got annoyed with me when I started laughing. I asked him, so, you want a live in Nurse that also cooks and cleans and goes shopping 1500 bucks a month. I told him what that position usually makes here and he damn near fainted. I told him he’ll never find someone for that little, he insisted I lost it. He’s still confused why no one has taken him oluo on his ‘ generous’ offer. It’s been a year not a single reply. He is actually a very nice man and I do help him as often as I can even if it’s just listening to him tell his stories. It’s not mean spirited for him, he genuinely believes that’s a great salary, It’s just that age that can’t figure out that everything has gone up in price. They have no frame of reference.

My BFs grandparents constantly say how we shouldn’t pay fast food workers more because look at the Spooky Book Season living in spooky book season 365 days a year Classic T-Shirt in other words I will buy this quality of food they put out. These old people are out of touch and forget that a minimum wage was first set out to be the minimum amount of money someone could get paid and still FULLY support themselves. FFS the amount of people, squeezing into homes or apartments just so they can afford it and live moderatly comfortably is depressing. My parents are boomers with a sense for reality thankfully. If they don’t know they just go and Google comparison stuff and have a pretty precise picture of how much rent is in certain areas. Gotta admit, my mom is a landlord though, so she needs to know that stuff anyway. Plus the IRS equivalent is on her case every year because “the rent is too low, we suspect you aren’t declaring your income properly”. It’s crazy how the few people who don’t bleed renters dry get bullied by the state while the state simultaneously bemoans that there’s not enough affordable housing.
