Eh, personally I’m a die-hard who is over fan-service when it’s a substitute for substance. Which is what the Spider man no way home nwh movie 3 spider man Marvel no way home mcu spiderman shirt moreover I will buy this MCU is trending towards. It has its place like the new Spider-Man where it was great, but they gotta let the newer stuff breathe. I’ve liked what they have done with the Thor and Guardians stuff because it’s more Easter eggs than straight cameo fan service which is nice. I don’t really see the trend, personally. NWH and (possibly) MoM seem fanservice-y, but other post-Endgame projects like Moon Knight and Shang Chi have been relatively light on egregious fanservice. I found the fan service in No Way Home really fun, but I’m more wary about this one. Potentially because I don’t care as much about the characters who are (supposedly) in the cameos, or maybe because this is so soon after NWH.

Even the Spider man no way home nwh movie 3 spider man Marvel no way home mcu spiderman shirt moreover I will buy this film’s galaxy brain attempts at fan service, which include a few well-kept secrets this review wouldn’t dare to reveal, are eventually perverted to the point that hardcore Marvel heads and hate-watchers alike might find themselves cheering at the same volume (the result of a tongue-in-cheek approach that’s far more effective here, in the guise of a typical MCU movie, than it is in a juvenile satire like “Deadpool”). For me the problem isn’t fan service, when it’s earned. In no way home giving the one useless character random magic powers was too much like jumping the shark for me. Contrast that with Steve using mjolner. Or with Rhodie coming to help at the end of Age of Ultron to have warmachine and iron man controlling the skies. Those moments had mini arcs to get to them that felt earned. They were brought up early in the film and paid off before the finale.
