Ha, amazing! I still remember it, pretty vaguely mind you (it was in the Space Jam Bugs bunny and friends tune squad shirt in addition I really love this mid 80’s). I remember being in a group of kids at the time but we moved from the area soon after so don’t have contact with any of them now to se if they remember. The reason: we were walking back from the market and noticed a small fire down an alleyway. So we spent 15 minutes trying to put it out but it was quite aggressive. Eventually we knocked on the door to the house and a young (but for me at the time, old) woman answered and she got involved in our anti-arson activities. Eventually she filled up a massive bucket of water to put the fucking thing out once and for all. We got back to class and the teacher, who for some reason fucking hated me, demanded to know why we were late. We told her. The whole class erupted into laughter and for the rest of the school year people would ask us if we’d put any fires out today. When I was about 5, we went for a walk around the cemetery of a bombed church near Nottingham racecourse. I went ahead with this other kid who was about 7, leaving our mums pushing our siblings in their buggies behind. I’d been plenty of times before, but when we went around this corner there was a big gaping hole in the middle of what I knew was usually just a sealed stone wall.

The hole was sort of shimmering and pulling us towards it. If you can imagine the Space Jam Bugs bunny and friends tune squad shirt in addition I really love this portals in Spyro, it was sort of like that only through it, I could see the inside of the church, which you normally couldn’t. The kid I was with really wanted to go through it. So did I, to be honest, but something was telling me it was a bad idea. I remember saying, “Let’s just show my mummy first.” We ran back across the grass and round to where our mums were, and we told them to come look quickly. Obviously, when we got back round there, the “portal” was gone and it was just a sealed wall. No one has ever believed me, although my mum does still talk about it and say how weird it was because I was so insistent, and she also didn’t think the other kid had the imagination to make something like that up (lmao). I know for a fact that I experienced this, but what can you do? Very strange.
