Well my Dad worked a factory job with a GED and he had a house, 2 cars and supported a wife and two kids. Imagine living in a world where you made $30k a year and most houses cost $60k. We’ve fucked our economy so hard for the last 40 years I’m not sure if it’s even fixable. But, profit greedy companies and investment groups simply started offshoring tech, manufacturing, call/customer service jobs to other countries that didn’t have the regulations/labor laws here in the USA, they could employ people in those countries for less than 1/4 of what our wages were here. That could actually be okay, if those products were heavily charged import taxes for their products, to go back into our infrastructure, but most of “our” government representatives have connections to those companies, either being business owners themselves or having huge donations given from those companies.

I think anytime someone says something about minimum wage isn’t supposed to be a living wage, ask them what it is for.
