California is one of our bread baskets. Given the Sour diesel shirt moreover I love this choice between being able to eat and letting people water their lawns, I’m guessing most people will choose food. Climate Change is already wreaking havoc on crops that are heat sensitive. Throw forest fires into the mix and most agriculture is heading for Oregon, Washington and Idaho, where it rains enough to grow food and there are reservoirs to store adequate water for the season. Even then we still use more than half of all of our grain, and around 40% of crop land, to grow food for farm animals. I love meat and dairy and eggs but I’m cutting it out or at least drastically down as of this month. Just doesn’t make sense. Never fell for the locals are the problem thing, the water is for the locals if the locals can drain it then it isn’t enough water for the locals it isnt the locals job to keep the reservoirs filled it’s the state’s responsibility though I might be bias as a Canadian surrounded by great lakes… Oh boy! Is it starting already?? I thought we had a few years yet, but I guess not! Get ready for water wars a la Mad Max, everyone! It’s gonna be a wild ride woo!

Why not fire up the desalination plants and start pumping that water to reservoirs and then we won’t need to pull tons of water from rivers. Just an idea. I know it’s expensive. But seams like a option I love driving around San Luis Reservoir on the drive down to LA. But the low water levels make me sad. When it’s full, it has an other-worldly beauty that’s hard to describe. With the icecaps melting. Why not fire up the desalination plants and start pumping that water to reservoirs and then we won’t need to pull tons of water from rivers. Just an idea.
