Speeding actually isn’t reckless in most cases, considering how low the speed limits are. They’re designed to be safe, even in extreme weather conditions. Which means in good weather, you should be able to go much faster. For example, I have a 3-lane highway near me that never gets much traffic, yet has 55mph limit. Lowest I’ll go is 70mph and even that feels uncomfortable. Usually aim for 80-85mph, if weather permits. Speed limits are generally designed to keep road injuries and fatalities at acceptable rates; they’re not intended to be entirely safe (i.e. to eliminate fatalities). They’re a balance between safety and practicality. There are numerous situations where you cannot drive at the limit safely, including weather conditions. It is most definitely not true to say that speed limits are the safe speed at which you can travel in bad weather.

There are actually laws throughout most US states saying that if you aren’t using the passing lane to pass, get out of that lane. You damn law breaker. Lol Bc it has less traffic and faster moving cars.
