This thread has my ego thinking it can probably take a bullet, but, considering the Snoopy woodstock Charlie Brown and friends happy Easter shirt in other words I will buy this way I handle colds, I know damn well I’d be crying like a baby. I think it greatly depends on where you’re shot (and maybe age). A lot of these comments involving the primary point of entry and exit being “meaty” parts of the body indicate it doesn’t hurt too horribly. For me, the hand (which was at the age of 11, so maybe that matters) involved lots of bone damage and a HUGE amount of blood, and I remember a lot of pain, all the way until the doctors numbed me. (The single bullet entered at a strange angle on the outside of my right ring finger, close to the last knuckle. It destroyed that knuckle and most of the middle phalange, then ricocheted to my right thumb entering smack in the middle of the fingerprint, taking most of the tip of the thumb off as it exited through the thumbnail. It was not a good time.)

It felt like nothing except a light jerk on my leg. I saw the hole, but felt no pain. 15 minutes late, that changed. Everything burned. It was like an itch made from fire that you can’t scratch because there is no flesh therebto scratch. Lots of surgery. Sucked fairly badly. The second time was a .22 to the same leg when I was 13. Sister got my this time. Hit bone and stopped. Hurt much faster, but not a badly. This one felt like an actual burn. Pulled out with pliers. Removal hurt worse, but still felt like a mix of a bad bruise, and a severe burn. Third time was a 12 ga from distance when I was 17. Caught 20 or so pellets with my face, chest, and shoulders. It stung, but really wasnt worth calling being shot. Pliers and tweezers to pop those out and it was fine. Forth time being shot was a 7.62 when I was 18. Was helping out with a project is Mozambique and they village was attacked. Whoever shot me was farther away than they should have been to be effective. Left absomen. Deep graze. Closer to the unscratchable itching burn, but more immediate and sharp. This was tissue ripped off, not just blown apart like the first one. No significant damage really. Was building a medical clinic, so immediate attention. I was sore, but up and it it again in a few days.
