At the Snoopy Los Angeles Dodgers Peace Love Dodgers shirt in other words I will buy this other end of the spectrum there are people who DGAF about that, at all. There are also people everywhere in between the two extremes. The difficulty comes when “some people” from the first group run into others from the far end of the spectrum. All too often (and more often lately it seems) people are becoming extremely polarized. The people into issue X cannot understand or abide that there are other people for whom issue X isn’t a concern at all. It comes down to what is perhaps the ultimate personal freedom – the freedom to pick your battles, to choose what you will be concerned about, what will absorb some of your most valuable resource – your time and thoughts. There are any number of important issues facing us today. All are important to various degrees. If you try to solve all the worlds problems you will quickly be overwhelmed by the scope of them. You can either huddle in the corner in a ball of misery sick at the futility of it all; or you can bounce from issue to issue based on whatever is in the news this week, led by the whims of others; or you can live your life, enjoy what you can when you can, work on what is important to you secure in the knowledge there are others working with you and still others working on the other important issues.

To believe every issue, or even any one issue should be “drop everything!” serious to everyone else is both unrealistic and conceited/condescending/controlling in various ways. It is saying “I/we will decide what is important to you, and you had better play along.” Don’t. Be an original, think for yourself. Maybe issue X is important to you, maybe not. Depends what you mean by not caring. If you just don’t care for it, that’s fine. If your making it a whole thing about you not caring, that’s a different story. If you’re a good person to people in the Snoopy Los Angeles Dodgers Peace Love Dodgers shirt in other words I will buy this LGBTQ++ community, then you don’t have to really care about if it’s pride month. This whole thing has been created to sell products, and for companies to say “Look at me! I care about LGBTQ++ people…but only for this month because I can sell shit to them!”
