The term “abuser” is outdated, and we are working to eradicate its use due to the harm that it causes to both survivors of violence and those who have engaged in interpersonal violence (a mouthful, but it focuses more on the action than the label). This therapist is poorly trained. We do not diagnose based on hearsay, start by believing be damned. Although “abuser” is not technically a diagnosis, it’s close enough that I would consider this a breach in ethics. You could definitely make a complaint to the therapist’s licensing board, but unless there have been other complaints you may be SOL on that front.

I’m not sure how applicable it would be in this situation, but there are court forensic psychologists who deal with malingering, i.e lying. I know about it for neuropsychological cases like someone suing a company and claiming an injury, but it might be possible to get one who to determine whether she’s traumatized over abuse Yes, report her and get a lawyer to sue her. She should not be providing a diagnosis for anyone who isn’t her patient, nor have an opinion about them. The lies told to the judge if no other evidence exists and the other party has done other things to bias the case it will actually work in your favor because saying such things without proof badly damages their credibility.
