You don’t have to register to vote for a party and you don’t have to vote for the Snoopy and Woodstock love Fall autumn tree shirt and I will buy this party you’re registered for. Party registration is only for voting in that party’s primary and even then not in every state. For example, my dad almost always votes democrat in general elections, but is registered as a republican so he can try to get the crazier republicans out of the running in the primary. This is weird to me. I think there are some genuinely better democratic politicians that we could be getting out of our primary procedures. If you live in a conservative area, the Republican nominee is usually going to win. A not-great Democrat isn’t going to be nearly as awful as an alt-right Republican. It makes sense to choose the best of the party that’s probably going to win, even if you don’t prefer that party.

You don’t, you can join the Snoopy and Woodstock love Fall autumn tree shirt and I will buy this party and that’s required to vote in some states’ primaries, but at election day you can vote for whoever you want, literally, you can write in the name of any person that’s not on the ballot. This happened to me too. I grew up believing my parents views were the correct ones. Then as I got into my late teens and 20s and started paying attention to the world I was like “Actually I think Al Gore is making more sense than ole Georgie boy” and after some soul searching I realized that everything I believed blindly as a kid was fucked up and wrong. And that’s why Conservatives literally legislate against education. An educated voter is more likely to vote Democrat, instead of just doing what they’re told. My dad isn’t around anymore and sometimes I think it’s almost a blessing because k owing how he was in the 90s, there’s no way the person I am now could have a relationship with the person he was.
