My husband was raised in a French household here in Canada. He’s totally fluent. Whenever we visit Quebec I try to speak French a bit and they always switch to English. He gets a good laugh out of it. Lmao. I traveled with some French Canadians. They were ashamed to speak their French in France. I was an exchange student visiting France with a bunch of other exchange students including a French Canadian guy. I’m pretty sure he got given wrong directions because they realised he was French Canadian on at least one occasion.
