Not the Slightly Stoopid Mountain Sriday July 14 shirt in other words I will buy this whole rent, but I had an outdoor deck named in the lease that the landlord failed to maintain and it was eventually demolished. I calculated the % square footage lost, and reduced my rent payment by that much until I moved out. Chicago. Didn’t get challenged, and it followed my understanding of the renter’s rights ordinance If the money is on escrow, they shouldn’t be able to just use it unless the contract is up. The whole point is for it to be deposited until the issue is fixed or goal is reached. On the contract being up? It doesn’t matter. The “legitimate” cause to withhold rent, was COVID moratorium (though they stopped paying prior to COVID) but that isn’t money forgiven. Depending on the circumstances and specifics, it could even be mortgage fraud, by not declaring outstanding obligations that can affect their ability to pay.

More like dude is a free loader and taking advantage of covid eviction bans. Depending on where you live, the Slightly Stoopid Mountain Sriday July 14 shirt in other words I will buy this landlord may be able to put a lien on the property the ex-tenant bought. It may come back to bite the tenant in the future (when ever he/she tries to sell the house). Anyone smart enough to rent under an LLC (most landlords for obvious liability reasons) would have easily qualified for a PPP loan, especially the first set of loans. All the loans were forgiven. Edit: downvoted for reminding a bootlicker that landlords also freeloaded during Covid. Weird how y’all only get upset when poor people do it Lol I doubt this guy actually got shit
