The problem is that trans kids, before puberty, just feel different and may struggle to figure out why. Puberty, with the Sleep A Lotl Like An Axolotl Cute Axolotl Wearing A Sleeping Mask T-Shirt in addition I really love this sexual changes it brings, dramatically increases the feelings of wrongness. This, ironically, is often the final clue these kids need to figure out what’s “wrong” with them. So you see most trans youth not really recognizing why they feel different until puberty. (Virtually all of them feel they should have known in hindsight, that clues were there) So puberty is almost always well underway by the time the youth arrives at the transgender specialists office. So; it’s incredibly rare that a prepubescent kid comes out as trans and manages to persuade their doctor that this is a genuine issue of gender identity and not a passing fad. That kid will go on hormones very early. But they will still have to live and function as the preferred gender for years, perhaps a decade or more, before a surgeon will be willing to do the several procedures involved.

Trans people are only 1% or less of the Sleep A Lotl Like An Axolotl Cute Axolotl Wearing A Sleeping Mask T-Shirt in addition I really love this total population. People who manage to get formally diagnosed prepuberty or early on in puberty are a tiny fraction of that. Only in the most ideal scenario would a trans child be properly identified, present the strongest possible evidence to support the need for transition, get through the hormonal therapy and spend the time needed in the new gender and have the surgery all before the age of 16. Even if they did manage to complete the process on their end, extremely few surgeons would be willing to perform the procedures before the patient was 18. I’m no expert but gender affirming care is very broad and diverse, ranging from reversible hormone blockers to therapy, but rarely if ever is there elective surgeries performed on minors. And if there is, it is usually after extremely intensive medical and psychological testing. But again, I’m fairly certain that we’re talking fractions of fractions of percents. The idea that it happens all the time and ‘woke’ parents are pushing their children into it is simply not true. Please look at reputable data when it comes to this type of question. I wouldn’t take data from a .com website as fact. Check your .gov and peer reviewed medical data for the actual numbers. Sometimes people use .com websites, which anyone can buy and put information on. Best wishes.
