The lack of term limits was set up to allow for impartiality in decision making. That simple fact alone should be enough to change the Skywalcat may the meow be with you Star wars kitten cats shirt but in fact I love this current structure since the supreme court has been perverted from it’s original purpose and now is exploited to allow blatant hyper partisan politics without any form of repercussion. I’d settle for a mandatory retirement age. I want it across all branches of government. There’s no excuse for the speaker of the house to be over 80, the president almost there and your typical Supreme Court justice to hang on past 80 or die on the bench. The Supreme Court of Canada has mandatory retirement age of 75, which was instituted in 1927. Plus they get to wear the Santa Clause robes Clarence Thomas has been on the court since before my wife was born. Thats being on the court for 2 generations. Its obscene. The people on the court now are so young that they will be on the court when my grandchildren are in grade school.

Each president would nominate two per term, barring special circumstances (retirement, deceased, etc.) The problem with a retirement age without a term limit is that it further incentivizes putting young, inexperienced extremists on the bench who will be stuck there for decades. The seasoned vets will be gone in a flash by comparison.
