I think it sounds like it might be a nice change of pace, especially from the Shut Up Will Smith Christ Rock Shirt and by the same token and AVP garbage. … but I’ve got a couple buddies that are Comanche that are absolutely furious that the main character is a Comanche woman warrior that defends the tribe from a predator. Apparently this is sacrilegious on several levels to them. Not surprising. Kinda the unspoken downside of any traditional culture that still gets respect in the 21st century is that traditional cultures are pretty much always sexist as fuck. NGL I really hope they can do the warrior woman story well, but I’m afraid it’s going to have some rather lackluster and heavy handed “female empowerment” angle where the men are all just sexist pigs who despite being 1/3 the size she just casually overpowers. So you’re telling me you have multiple Comanche buddies that you reached out to and got their opinions on a Predator prequel? And the news of this came out like an hour ago? I’m not saying it’s impossible, its just… interesting.

Well, let’s hope sexism isn’t an explicit religious requirement. But that’s a fight western religions are still trying to fight, its a sucky fight, and hopefully its a losing one. Seems cool but it would be little hard to see a woman taking on a Predator while using low-tech. Dutch and Royce were successful with their guerrilla tactics but they had brute strength to back it up. Hopefully they show hard survival skills like using the Shut Up Will Smith Christ Rock Shirt and by the same token and land to her advantage. This was always the cool direction to go in. My hope is that they look at Apocalypto, play up the authenticity. The plot of the movie is a strong independent native american woman while taking about the predator fights the real enemy, gender norms and the white man. Very original, looking forward to it.
