Regardless, front-desk has always been able to make decent recommendations on food and entertainment on any hotel that I have stayed at. Edit: source, I worked at a hotel as a housekeeper. I even got asked where stuff was. Like dress stores or local sites. My coworkers and I even got asked where they could buy weed (before it was legal). And when I need a concierge or that level of interaction, I stay in a hotel. I neither need nor want that level of involvement from and AirBnB or VRBO host. That’s a very aggressive reply. If you’d bothered to read my post, you’ll note that the place is cheaper than nearby hotels. Like the other poster said, cheap hotels don’t really have concierges. I rented an Airbnb in like 2015 in downtown Santa Monica. It was dirty, it had literally no dishes or cups, and one roll of toilet paper. Now it was cheaper than todays airbnbs but not sure if it really was with inflation over the years. Maybe $200/night. If someone showed up to an Airbnb like that today they’d flip a shit. Now for marginally more money you get the most needy guests, with high expectations, that damage your shit. There are people who are going to push to see how much they can get from you. You need to determine what you are willing to do and not do. You can be polite and say, sorry I can not do that for you (you can include a link or not so they can do it themselves). Or sorry, I’m not familiar with that (vintage clothing). Just because someone asks, does not mean you have to do it. As a guest, I am always appreciative of a local guide to attractions, restaurants, hiking, etc. I don’t want to hear from my host during my stay – I’m usually at an AirBnB to chill, I don’t want to get text messages…. unless something is urgent / wrong. Once at check-in and once at check-out is the right amount for me. I’d never ask a host that information – and I actually think almost all the places I’ve stayed have been managed by a property management company. Sure some places do do more than others, providing the addresses of the nearest supermarket, chemist, bank etc but you can tell it’s not like they spent ages putting it together!
