With an earlier schedule I can actually attend them and be there for my kids. Something I never had my parents doing for me growing up. I’m a computer programmer and manager and executive and business person. Literally, I haven’t had an interview in about 15 years where the employer didn’t tell me I should expect to work 60 hour weeks for them. I’ve been on a 7-3 schedule since I started working summer jobs landscaping. I’ve bounced around a bit since then, but 7-3 is just a better schedule than 9-5. It’s nice to actually have something left of my day. This post is honestly the first I’m hearing of anyone feeling otherwise. Doesn’t matter what time in bed, my brain doesn’t get enough blood to think before 10am, if it’s something sporadic i can manage to wake up enough with the adrenaline of the schedule change, but if it’s routine, I’m just a zombie spacing in front of the screen.

I never “got used to it” and was sleep deprived all the time which affected my ability to concentrate. Despite being up at 6:30 every day, I couldn’t fall asleep before midnight, even if I had been laying in bed for an hour with no phone. Some of us are just night owls. I work an evening job so that I’m actually awake and can be productive.
