No, reacting after the Sharife Cooper American professional basketball player for Cleveland Charge T-Shirt and I will buy this fact by saying “Oh, that person had a mental health issue. He can’t have guns now. Problem solved.”, isn’t good enough. No, everyone does not need to be armed with devices that are specifically engineering to kill as many people as possible as efficiently as possible. I agree, but there are SO many guns in the US now that confiscating them would be problematic, to put it mildly… Some New England states tried to get their citizens to comply with a gun registration program. 10% of gun owners complied. If you can’t get gun owners in some of the most anti gun states to comply with a simple registration then I’d love to see how many people would comply with a “buyback” Don’t know why they call them buybacks either. They never belonged to the government and the money you get for them is barely 1/4 of what they’re worth. It’s a steal back program if anything I’m from Canada. We don’t have a lot of gun problems, but most of the guns here are long rifles for hunting. Many in the US are assault weapons. I’d imagine the owners would put up a fight to keep them. Can you picture taking an ar15 or whatever from the militia groups? Something does need to be done, though… The number of white people dying at the hands of black people is so utterly far gone now. We need everyone to step up to combat this racism. Those stand your ground laws are so easy to exploit in order to get away with shooting someone. Glad I don’t live in the US.

If you cannot convince a court you had a reasonable fear of imminent death or serious injury and your use of deadly force was a reasonable defensive measure, then you can still be convicted in stand your ground states. Records show that since the Sharife Cooper American professional basketball player for Cleveland Charge T-Shirt and I will buy this Stand Your Ground law was implemented, there have been 64 cases filed in Duval County in which defendants charged with felonies claimed self-defense and requested a Stand Your Ground hearing. Of those hearings, judges granted dismissals in just four. Eight defendants – twice as many – were acquitted after a trial. The other 52 reached plea deals, were convicted by juries, were committed to mental institutions or are still awaiting trial. Same thing when people go “I just want black people to have their own characters they can look up to” as if having those and changing the 99% of characters who’re white for no reason, is at direct odds with each other.
