A very impressive shot to produce a cool visual effect that otherwise wouldn’t happen with knocked, same-size arrows. One is unlucky (because arrows are expensive) and the other is very rare. I don’t remember that because that wasn’t what Mythbusters claimed. Mythbusters claimed a wooden arrow couldn’t be split all the way down the shaft by another arrow because the wood grain doesn’t run perfectly parallel down the shaft. There’s no wooden arrows are being split in this video.

It can’t be done. But here it’s intentionally done. If it was fired out in reverse, it would have moved, and the fletching would have stayed on It’s not all that uncommon for an arrow to strike the back of another arrow. This was clearly set up for the trick shot (first arrow was larger and had no knock, cameras were set up to film the interaction). But I would bet the actual shot was genuine.
